show/hide in tiny mce

Hi All,
Please find below my requirement and let me know if this is possible in tiny MCE:
The author selects some content in the text area, then he will click on the icon(some custom plugin in the toolbar). On click of the icon, the selected content will have the functionality of show and hide. Also when the author will preview that page , he will get show/hide link correspoding to the selected content.
Looking forward for any kind of help.

Also get this HTML working on one of your pages as is. Then start incorporating the changes into MCE

Like Andy said -- this doesn't seem to be a sound approach. Take a step back and explain what you are trying to do and what is the reasoning behind it. Perhaps there's a better way to solve the problem.

As Andy said get this to work in standalone html first, then it will be easy to make it available in tinyMCE as a style. your custom tinyMCE icon will just wrap the content in a div which will have the show/hide feature.
