Initiating a WF without selecting files

Hi all,
A strange behaviour ( i didnot notice at all !)

If a user invokes any WF without selecting files, all the files are in that folder are bieng attached to the WF. I tried with OOTB workflows as well. We are on TS 7.2 , Linux.

any thoughts?

This is "standard" for any workflow that is designed to attach pre-selected files. If no files are pre-selected, all "modified" files within the workarea (or at least within the current directory and its sub-directories) are automatically pre-selected by the system.
While you could try to include some code that checks the number of files attached and does "something" if that number is greater than "N" - there really isn't much else you can do other than user-training and/or providing alternative workflows that do not anticipate having pre-selected files for those circumstances where you don't intend to have pre-selected files.

However, I invoked the same WFM workflow by "new_job", and the screen is blank and doesnot allow the user to go beyond. [ It should be the same when we invoke the WF from 'submit' or 'new_job']

and i invoked a WFT workflow by "assign" (OOTB workflow), its pops up a message "no file is selected" [bcos it is assignment workflow, its poping the alert]

Let me clarify - it does make a difference what "command" is used to instantiate the workflow. The behavior I described is for "submit".
I don't believe that "new_job" or "assign" automatically attach modified files in the absence of actual pre-selected files, however that's based on historical recollection - I have not verified this (though I did check the manuals and didn't see anything about this documented [unfortunately])
