Before you say "read the manuals" I've looked and can't find an example or information on what I'm trying to do.

I have a flat file that has the options for a drop down on the system that I can put it anywhere. I want to include with included options in a DCT but I'm hoping to use a simple command value. Is there something like command="type filename.xml"?

Any help/examples would be appreciated.

nope, just create a cat.ipl perl script that will read and dump the file. If that takes you more than 5 minutes.....

If you are doing this a number of times, it would be a good idea to combine the inlines into a single inline (and use perl modules if you need to). Each inline starts a new process and that is an expensive (performance wise) task. If the DCT opens ina reasonable amount of time, do not worry, but I have seen 15 inines and people wonder why it takes a while to load

In large files, this is more efficient:

open(my $fh, '<', $filename) or die "Can't open $filename: $!";
print do { local $/; <$fh> };
close $fh;

Thanks - for all the suggestions. I thought there was going to be some "slick way" to do this. I guess brute force with a small hammer works. This is what I ended up with:

In the case like that, why would you need any Perl, even a rudimentary one? In windows you can use type, see below. In Unix - cat...[php]

In Windows very few shell commands are executables in their own right. To run them outside of the shell context you pretty much
execute "shell flags command..." which in your case translates to "...cmd.exe /C type... ". For help with that execute "cmd /?" in the
command line mode
