DCT creation issue...

Hi,

I am creating a DCT in which i have two radio button one for external link and one for internal link.When i select internal link then a browser typewill appears to browse internal link.When i select external link then a text box will appears to enter external link.

My problem is that whatever link i select the tag in generated xml should like:

<.url>www.google.com<./url>
or

<.url>/select.gif<./url>

So how can i toggle item type on select of radio button?

I used two <.choice name=""> for that one for internal and other for external with same item named "url".

But then in generated xml it is creating 2 tages like:

<.url>www.google.com<./url>
<./url>

But i need only one <.url/> tag in dcr(xml).

Find attached datacapture.cfg and datacapture.js.

you can switch between two items using item.setVisible(true/false).
But do you really need browser and text box fields? you know you can type in a browser field so I don't see the need for a text box here. I suggest you just use browser field and keep radio button if you want the user to indicate if the link is internal or external.

You can create two items in DCT to get the link as a browser and as a textbox.
On selection of the Readio button values(External/Internal),you can show and hide the Items.

At the time of taking the values of Item,Check if the radio button is selected as internal then take the Item tag of Internal(As a browse) and if the radio button is selected as external ,take the item tag of textbox.

Might be it will solve u't problem.

In addition to what is already suggested, I would say make your browser item required="f" instead of required="t".

But i need only one tag for external or internal link.
Suppose when i select internal link
then: <.url>/site/index.html<./ur>

Suppose when i select external link
then: <.url>www.google.com<./ur>

So i cannot take two item with name name url.

Thats why i use <.choice/> tag for that.

It is working fine.
But in saved dcr(xml) it is showing two tages(one filled tag with link and other blank tag like:

<.url>/site/index.html<./ur>
<.url/>

You / the processing code can't just ignore empty [url] elements? or is this an aesthetic issue?
