Indexer indexing emails without outlook client and WMS
spregula
We are using Worksite Indexer 8.2SP1 and according to the Imanage engineers we need an outlook client or WMS (windows messaging service) to index email messages (.MSG). We uninstalled the outlook client and the indexer is perfectly indexing the MSG files without either outlook client or WMS service.
Does anyone have run into similar situation ?
The indexer is installed on a Windows 2003 server and Microsoft strongly recommends not installing Outlook 2003 on the server. Where as the WMS service is not supported on the Windows 2003 server.
Since we have sucessfull indexing of MSG files without these two components can we use this scenario. But without a concrete answer why the indexer is working we are having hard time to justify this scenario for production. There engineers have no valid answers what is making this possible. Can any worksite developers point out what may be contributing to this situation.

Microsoft doesn't recommend a combo of Outlook/Exchange on a server because of conflicting DLL's.

Yes both of them don't exist on our server and the worksite indexer is indexing all emails. What is contributing to the indexing of outlook messages without these components.
