Creating space in content store by deleting old branch moving content to new branch

If you do not need any of your old version history, you can create a new (empty) branch, create a workarea, copy all the old content into the workarea, then delete the old branch.

This is stated in admin guide, page 94

By removing the original Branch you reclaim space consumed by history - multiple versions of every file you modified/submitted
since creation of this branch. Essentially, you get rid of all Editions, both named and anonymous(numbered).

So when a branch content is copied to a different branch, all the version histrory is deleted ?

TS maintains asset's history per branch. Conceptually there is no "cross-branch" history.
TS maintains history in the collection of Branch Editions, named and anonymous. Editions keep all versions of
all Files that you ever submitted in that Branch.

When you copy a File from certain Area of Branch A to some Workarea of empty Branch B you just create version 0+
of that file in Branch B, that's it. History is NOT copied along with the File. History is NOT deleted from the original
Branch A.

Read the manual carefully. It says
"If you do not need any of your old version history, you can create a new (empty) branch, create a workarea,
copy all the old content into the workarea, then delete the old branch".

CLT "iwmigrate" allows you to "migrate" partial or complete Branch History if you want to split the store,
move to another location, etc...
