Generate Files from Templatedata folder

New to Teamsite, and not sure if I m asking a Holy Grail question.

Is it possible to generate all DCR's in a specific folder through Perl and save them in the XMLDATASOURCE folder ?

I'm not sure what you mean by "XMLDATASOURCE folder" - but other than that, assuming the question is really generating output pages from all DCRs in a specific folder, the answer is "yes, but it depends" - the latter part of that answer being that there are a number of assumptions being made based on the lack of information provided, but generally, the answer is "yes".

Assuming that you are talking about TPL (perl-based PTs) you can either utilize the iwpt_compile.ipl or iwgen CLTs (the former requires that you explicitly set the proper EAs on the generated output files to signify that they were, in fact, generated) - and as for processing all the DCRs in the folder - that's basic Perl I/O directory processing - nothing TS-specific about that.

The exact question was that, if I have say 1000 DCR's in a specific folder and then now I need to generate all of them either as a batch or on one shot (Not using the UI Actions > Generate command), but a Perl Script which will gather the list of files and execute one by one and save the output file into a folder that I specify.

From your feedback, I assume that I need to call iwpt_compile.ipl explicitly, say from a Putty window and then allow it to munch all files and generate ?

Is that right ?

iwpt_compile.ipl runs on a single file so you will want to run it in a script to iterate through the directory
