workflow error

I have some error in the workflow. So when I run this work flow, I am getting an error

"Invalid workflow
no element found at Line 1
Error : 00001: Failure in operation"

What is this error due to ?

If I have some error in wft, Where can I check for errors in wft tile ? How do I know, what line of code is causing problem ? For TPL, when I check iwutild_cmdout.log, it shows exactly on what line problem is. Is there a log, where I can check same thing for wft file ?

WFTs work by running some Perl in the beginning which generates an XML called a Job Spec File. If your WFT was properly written, there will be a statement where you can turn on debug and view the Job Spec.

Edit the WFT and look for debug, if you can turn it on, then run the WFT and look at the debug output.

That seems like invalid XML, maybe an ampersand was used, you can get an error if you do not properly handle comments and someone uses This & That for the submit comment.

where do I use iw_solutions_email.ipl in workflow ?

I saw one sample in PDF guide and in that this script is placed after an external task. I have few exyernal tasks in the workflow, I am looking at. SO where do I put this script to check errors in wf ?

Is there any other way of debugging ?

Note that if your WFT has been correctly designed by somebody you should already have
iw_debug_mode/iw_output_file Keys, perhaps activated conditionally or possibly commented
out currently within WFT.

Whatever the case, set iw_debug_mode Flag to true. WF Engine will then print out Job Specifications
that your WFT is generating. As Nipper pointed out - something is fishy in these Specs.

One thing you can check is make sure the ipl runs outside of the workflow engine. Pass it some dummy variables like wfid, taskid, comments, etc... Although that ipl looks like it is an ootb perl script.
