URL Structuring

Has anybody worked on url-structuring?

We are a web-based company and We want to show our pages in run-time as
www.abc/category/sub-category.
We have even a list of urls which we want to show but not sure how it happens.

Note that category and sub-categories pages are coming dynamically.

Is there any guide for the same or I will have to dig it somewhere?

Guidance regarding the same will be helpful even if it means reading some pdfs or any stuffs you suggest.

By websites I mean to say internet sites and not the intranet/corporate sites.

this is not built on livesite (just teamsite and formpublisher), but it has similar url structuring that you are talking about: http://www.ama-assn.org/
