Y drive sharing and permission
nraval
iwserver: 6.7.2 Build 70090 Interwoven 20100322
Windows server 2008 (
Microsoft Windows [Version 6.0.6002] )
Please help we have very critical issue in Y drive sharing
1) Can we share Y drive and give permission to user so that directly copy there content to work area?
- we have windows group associated with each work area
2) What share/security permission we need on Y drive -
3) can we share y:default?
Greatly appreciate your help
Thank a lot!

The IFS is automatically shared during the (successful) install of TeamSite. Y: gets mapped to the "IWServer" share and Y:\default gets mapped to the "default" share. Access rules are the same as within TeamSite if you're using OS or AD groups, but gets a little weird when you use virtual users.
Key thing to note: using the virtual file system circumvents the locking model and won't ever submit things for you. You're basically forgetting about the whole point of using a content management system. This functionality should only be used for batch imports of a legacy folder tree of images or things like that, not really for day-to-day manual user use (unless they're importing massive PSD files or something that would cause the import applet to choke, but then that doesn't really belong in web content anyway).

Thanks Rick
I agree with you but we had this practice from beginning - they want to copy 100 or 1000 of files together -
Found following in Admin guide Chapter 6 -
Sharing TeamSite Assets using Windows Groups
Windows groups can be used to group users and to share TeamSite assets such as branches and workareas. They may also be used, in conjunction with Windows Access Control Lists (ACLs) to provide finer-grained access control for individual directories and files. Over time, Windows has evolved, and the use of Windows groups has evolved with it. Best practice for using groups with TeamSite depends on the Windows Operating System version, and on the size and complexity of the network in which it works. There are three basic scenarios:........................................
No question comes that can we do that ?
or ask them to use inbuilt import file utility
Thanks a lot
