Physical location of assets in Mediabin

Hi,
i want to transfer files from a particular location into MediaBin . For this i want to write a script where i access link of the folder and transfer it to MediaBin server. Here i need to know the physical location of the assets In MediaBin so that i can get the link to the path where i want to store the files in MediaBin.
Therefore i want to know if the assets are actually stored in the hard disk drive or the database repository?
As of now i am not able to see the files in any of the hard disk drives.

You have to mention the mediaBin version / Database details

If you are using medinaBin 4.x and older version ,
the assets are stored in MB data directory (not like an asset type) and thumbnails / metadata are stored in the database ..

(A high level),

Note : your approach is not going to help ., if you don’t have any metadata
You can use the MB windows client to drag and drop the images from any file system to mediaBin ( even at folder level).

Thanks for your reply. Well we are using MediaBin 4.6 here . I dont think the drag and drop option that you have suggested is going to help here as we have to transfer loads of image folders from Teamsite into Mediabin.
Moreover our requirement is to write automated scripts to transfer Assets from Teamsite to mediabin.
Can you any suggestions on the same ?

Interwoven provide the facility to drag and drop assets ,

(exception with metadata)…..

only the matter of time .I have done up to 20 gb of Assets ,

Of ource , you can write

VB Scripts or other scripts to achieve this.

Sorry to be dense but I am uncertain why exactly you need to know where the files reside in MediaBin. The answer, by the way, is the ImageDB subdirectory of MBDataDirectory. I is possible to have multiple ImageDB locations but that is an advanced topic.

However, you are not expected to transfer files directly. This should only be done by MediaBin. The most efficient way to transfer files is to start with a UNC path visible to the MediaBin server and drag and drop via, for example, the Windows Native Client.

To be specific, the ImageDB hold all images and some metadata fields including many of the image previews. Prior to 4.6 these files were named with an .mbf extension. As of 4.6 original files have a new name but their original extension.
