iwextattr -s and subjectMetadata0 - breaks tag screen

I'm using iwextattr -s to set some attributes on a file. When I do this the attribute is set yet the subjectMetadata0 field is not affected. The subjectMetadata0 field appears to be what controls the population of data within the TeamSite tagging screen. So what happens is that a file is tagged using iwextattr but the update will not show up in the tagging screens. This means that an attribute can be set yet the next time a user goes to tag that file they will see the old metadata values and will overwrite the change using iwextattr -s. Does anyone know how to get the subjectMetadata0 field to update with an iwextattr -s?

subjectmetadata0, subjectmetadata1 etc..., are chunks of MD value if it's bigger than certain size. Attribute "numberOfChunks" indicates
how many chunks subjectmetadata is broken to. Normally you would not want to manipulate these elements directly, it's done automatically
by the system on your behalf.

So, ignore implementation details. What exactly is the problem you are trying to solve? You MD is not persistent, or can not be obtained after
setting or what?

The issue is that we are trying to update a taxonomy term "programId" programatically using 'iwextattr -s'. This is successful and using 'iwextattr -l' we are able to see the attribute being set. The problem is that when trying to tag the file in Metatagger after setting the attribute using 'iwextattr -s', the Program field is empty. We have found that it is only when we manually update the subjectMetadata field that we are able to see the modifications show up in Metatagger.

Whatever the case, IMO you should not manipulate chunks directly.

If I were you I would've posted the problem description in the appropriate Meta Tagger Forum.
Describe your issue, not one of the problems of one of the approaches you took to fix it.
Separate facts from your diagnostic theories and theories from things you tried to fix the issue.

Describe the problem exact manifestation first and continue with things that you've tried to fix it
and what the results of this attempts were.
