VisualFormat Editor support for IE 9

maddy

Does Visual Format support with IE9?

When I'm trying to new content using VF using IE 9, it hangs while I start entering the content.

Is there any quick fix to solve this issue?

Highly unlikely.

If it works, you are lucky.

You can see what rev of VFE it is and check the Ektron site (ewebeditpro is what IWOV includes) to see if that version can be made to work with IE9. Making things tougher, IWOV is typically a rev or 2 behind the Ektron release.

I highly doubt IWOV has done much testing with IE9 yet at all.

BTW, you do not mention what version of TeamSite you are using.

IE9 and FF4 are not supported yet according to the release notes.

We are using 6.7.1 version of TeamSite

So you want something released in 2006 to support IE 9.

Riiiiiiight.

Yes - this is mostly not an issue with TeamSite. It is more to do with Visual Format.

Can there be a quick fix to this issue may be a configuration change or something to get this working.

I have too much content as of now created within my teamsite application and upgrading to new version might too much cost and effort.

I'm attaching the script for your reference. As soon as I run this html in IE 9 - the brower hangs and I need to basically kill the process to get this working. Smiley Sad

Any help would be appreciated.

I don't think upgrading TeamSite would help you any, since support for IE9 is still not available as of 7.2.1. My suggestion would be to tell your users to downgrade, since I can't imagine any company would use such a new tech as their standard. The alternative is to see if switching to TinyMCE is a possibility for your RTE fields, assuming it works any better.

I would just install an updated eWebEditPro (aka Visual Format) activeX control directly from the Ektron website. That is how I supported IE8 when it released before TeamSite provided support.

Is there any other editor which can be replaced for Visual Format for IE 9 for TeamSite 6.7.x?

You can certainly try TinyMCE. There is no guarantee though that your version will work any better with IE9.

For TS 671, do not use TinyMCE, TinyMCE has problems during second save of the form. I had raised a ticket where they had asked us to upgrade TS to 672SP2. The TinyMCE that ships with 672SP2 didnt have the problem of data not being able to save.
