How to change body class without javascript

I have to apply some stylesheet classes to the body. Until now the only way I found to do that is using javascript.

However, if the user has the javascript disabled, this won't work.

Is there any other way to change the class attribute of the body of a page?

Err... unless I'm missing something,

<style type="text/css">
body {
}
</style>

If you have multiple things going on, then
body, .classA { }
body, .classB { }

or just flat out
<body class="classA classB">

If you absolutely need to *dynamically* set these, then you're out of luck. The only way to execute dynamic logic on the client side is JS.

If you are using Fixed width Layouts, a css file with the same name (name of the layout xml file) gets created for the site. This css file has styles for body tag as well. you can make the changes there.

That only happens if you specified inline-css="no" on your layout root tag (or whatever that attribute is called).

The body tag is generated using the page XSL defined at the back end (located in httpd\webapps\content_center\WEB-INF\classes\com\interwoven\xsl\runtime). So if you change the page type to include some default class, it would work.

I have the same question. A user here suggested using page tokens. Can someone elaborate on this?

This is an absolutely ancient question, but I'll put our solution here if anyone needs it again. You make a component with Java that adds a 'bodyClass' attribute to the request. You then use the request/context token in fixed-page-layout.xsl to add the class to the body.

Remember that validation will chomp on you if your two states are "myClass" and blank, because "" is invalid. The solution is to have two classes, so it's an either/or.

I'm tired, if that doesn't make sense, yell about it and I'll reword.
