OS File permissions are not setting properly when using submit.cfg

niranjankumar

Hi ,

I am using TeamSite 6.7.1 SP1 in solaris OS and having problem with file permissions after submitting the files.

Whenever my submittask is completed in the workflow the OS file permission for the files are changing to 555(r-xr-xr-x). My submit.cfg consists :

CASE-SENSITIVE=YES
RULES
{

^.*/default/main/site/common/.*$ # any workarea in this branch
{
.* { gid=iw_common perm=0775 }
}
}

After the submittask completion group in TeamSite for submitted files is changed to "iw-common" and file permissions are changed to 775 but at OS level as we are not having the group(iw-common), so it is changing to "iwglobal" and the file permission are set to r-xr-xr-x(555).

Users are not able to regenerate the files once submitted the files.It is throwing error, cannot output file because of file permission.

So we tried to run a additional script after the submittask to change the file permissions but the problem is it showing the files modified in the TeamSite. Since we are touching the files after the Submit.

I have check umask in the server and it is 0022 and also iw.cfg all the permissions are set well. What could be the reasons for my files permissions to change after the submittask.

OK, different issues, I assume iw_common is a TeamSite group. Since Unix does not know about iw_common it uses a global group (iwglobal)

As to the permissions. do you have branch_security or workarea security turned on ?

Is the workarea shared with the appropriate groups ?

Have you used iwtestcfg to verify submit.cfg ?

Hi,

Branch and workarea security are turned off in my iw.cfg.

branch_security=false
workarea_security=false

We have only one WORKAREA under the common branch. It is shared among "iw_common"

I have tested the submit.cfg using iwtestcfg and output:

./iwtestcfg /default/main/site/common/WORKAREA/development/test_include/test_dr_first.html
Matched area pattern "^.*/default/main/site/common/.*$"
Matched file pattern ".*"
Actions to do are:
gid=iw_common
perm=0775

Hi,

iw.cfg file configurations:

[iwproxy_access_control_enabled]
_default=no
_regex=(.*)/default/main/site/(.*)=no

main_lock_model=submit_lock
main_owner=root
main_group=root
event_log_size=64
branch_security=false
workarea_security=false
branch_default_perm=775
workarea_default_perm=2775
file_default_perm=664
directory_default_perm=2775
debug_event_handler=no
map_secondary_to_primary_gid=no
old_mod_times=yes
force_EA_mod_times=false
admin_roles=admin
branch_owner_role=admin
only_lock_owner_creator_submits=true

OK, everything looks correct. For grins, can you change the group from iw_common to a Unix group and try a submit. Is the permission still wrong ?

niranjankumar

Hi,

For that i need to update the submit.cfg and need to reset the Teamsite server.I have to do that in my client prod environment.

In our dev envirnoment (Teamsite 6.7.2) everything is working fine for the same configurations. File permissions at OS are updating to 775 and group to "iwglobal" with same submit.cfg file for the same workflow. After that User is able to regenerate the file.

So i just want confirm whether group not being the unix group causing the problem? or they could be any other reasons?

No I was grasping at straws. Submit.cfg works fro TS groups and OS groups. Everything you posted *seems* correct, I was trying to narrow down the issue.

Do you have SP1 or just 6.7.1 ?

I saw this in the SP1 release notes (about a bug fixed in SP1)

61459 In Windows, if a non-OS group is given access in submit.cfg, access is actually set to the global group, and no one in the non-OS group other than the owner can access the file.

When you say you "checked the umask in the server" - what exactly do you mean?

/etc/

niranjankumar

Hi,

I have checked the umask using the command:

> umask
0022

Checked for following users:

root , iwui , iwts , lcarl (TeamSite user who submitted the files).

For all the above users the umask is 0022.

Yes I am looking at the correct iw.cfg file under /etc

Well, as with many such inexplicable things - trying to get Support involved may help...
