Hi,

I am using XSLPT for DCR.Tinymce is loaded properly in the DCR but when I save the DCR the Text field is showing blank.Please can anyone put some light on this issue

How are you defining the DCT in your templating.cfg? "iwov" or "xml" style?
How are you writing the DCT - "iwov" or "xml" style? and for the latter (especially) are you sure you've written it correctly?

I've seen a number of cases where there is a conflict between the way the DCT is written and the way it is specified in the templating.cfg that causes fields of data to be lost on save.

The other "usual" source of this problem is if you enter text in the tinymce textarea and save without having clicked into another field after entering the text in the textarea - tinymce (and perhaps VFE too) won't save the contents of the textarea until after that textarea loses the input focus. (this problem was supposedly fixed in one of the releases, but I recall running into it on an early release version of 7.0 late last year)

I don't think there is a relationship with PT on saving a DCR. You can check a DCR with clicking on Edit. All the contents are available or not that is captured while creation of a DCR.
If the TinyMCE contents are not there then check FormApi codes are using in your DCT on saving of a DCR. Is there any manipulation for Textarea item?

To add to what ghoti and Faizi mentioned, a quick way to debug this is to look at the actual contents of the DCR you saved (on the filesystem). Most likely the content you entered for that field will be missing. Then it's just a matter of seeing which scenario that ghoti mentioned is more likely.

If you need further debugging, you can also temporarily modify the DCT so the field doesn't have TinyMCE as the external editor and see if the content saves in this way.

Hi , I agree with Ghoti. I was having the same problem and it was unpredictable as sometimes it would save and other times disappear. I searched in vain in all the tinymce forums. Later after many tests realised that I was encountering the latter problem that he mentions.

If the last thing is tinymce before form close, then content was lost. If we clicked anywhere else on the form, then it would save.

I have TS 6.7.1 SP 1. I can vouch that this problem still exists in this version.
Our workaround was the put a required field at the end of the form.

Without seeing the actual DCT code, nor exactly the actions that are taken when filling them in, it is difficult to debug this issue remotely.
If you're positive that the DCTs are written correctly and that you click somewhere else after filling in the tinymce textarea and it still doesn't get saved - you should open a case with Support.

If you change the 2 that aren't working to be regular text areas, what happens? Will the text then save? If not, the problem is with your DCT.

Also, are you using the same configuration for all the tinymce instances?

Has anyone tried adding code to an onsave event to focus on a different item (than the TinyMCE item)? I'm asking more out of curiosity than anything else, especially given that I'm pretty sure this is resolved.

I'm skeptical about having the required field because it would only have an impact the first time a form is created and not on subsequent edit, unless you erased the value of the field each time the form was opened, which is moving into kludge territory.

At NRC we use TinyMCE now as well, having switched over from VFE. However, we do not use the version that ships with TS - we use the full-fledged version from moxiecode.com. This is done via a textarea with no external editor - simply a cgi callout. It opens a separate window that launches the full (and latest) version of TMCE. The user can then edit the content, and then push a button within the window to send the content back to the textarea.

If the issue is the external editor option (for some strange reason), you could try something similar.

I believe you have several javascript coding errors in convert and saveHander, plus your calling init incorrectly (read the FormAPI manual).
The rest of the DCT does look like it is correctly set for "xml" style - so assuming it is defined as such [correctly] within the templating.cfg file - that's not the source of your problems.
Have you verified that clicking in another field after populating the tinymce textarea does - or does not - resolve your problem?

Because when I removed the second container,it worked but I need with container.

You're saying you changed it from main/step/text to just main/text or step/text - and that "fixed" the problem?

That sounds very strange - if you can easily reproduce it I'd suggest opening a case with Support.

I changed to main/step/text to main/step and it worked.I know it is quite strange but thats how it is.I found one strange Random error,if I entered the text before loading tinymce..it is allowed me to save as I have given the text as mandatory field but if I get delayed and entered the text after loading of tinymce it wont allowed me to save.
It is working fine for previously created DCTs.So this issue is quite strange to me.

Sorry I don't feel like reading the whole thread but this issue sounds familiar. There is/was an issue with TinyMCE where it doesn't save user entered data. This was a documented bug with a workaround. the issue occurs when tinymce field is in a nested container that is loaded collapsed. the workaround was to load at least one tinymce field expanded on formLoad which you can set to invisible if it wasn't needed in the form.

Thanks for all of your suggestions, finally data is saved but html tags are coming,Any Suggestions for that.

I knew that it is know issue with the containers but there is one other way to expand the atleast one container which has tinymce.The answer is in templating.cfg file
