alias url's issue (out of bound)
joe_pat
Hi all,
My requirement is to create a vanity URL for some product pages and for this i have done the following steps..
1. In the SiteMap i specified a Vanity URL on a node which points to a LiveSite page and added optional query string parameter too.
2. used a special token: URL_ALIAS[aliasHere] in The html page containing the Vanity URL
My question is
Till now Vanity URLs are mapped to nodes in a SiteMap which in turn need to map to a page [ ] ...How to we achieve this ????
Do i need to use write external that uses the optional query string parameter to identify the actual page it should point to??
Is there a way that content contributor can do that on their own??
Replies are appreciated

I'm not sure what your question is here. You said in step 1 you created a node, pointed it to livesite page, then gave it an alias. The page that is assigned to the node with the alias will be your result page so I'm not sure what you mean by:
"Till now Vanity URLs are mapped to nodes in a SiteMap which in turn need to map to a page [ ] ...How to we achieve this ????"

If i have add alias url's ?? Then by default will that url that we add will point to same page that node refer to ? nothing else need to be done by us to identify the actual page?
so i just have to deploy the pages and type the url in the browser ..some thing like..
http://mysite/VanityURL
Thank you

Yes, that is correct. When you add the alias - say "products" - to the node and assign the node to a livesite page - say "products.page", when you type:
http://yoursite.com/products
This will resolve to the products.page.
