NOT Triggering init function on onload in .page edit mode

Hi,
I have this weird issue with my components which was actually working fine on TS 6.7.2 and we recently upgraded it to TS 7.2. Iam calling other .js in my component on onload event like this

   //alert(typeof $);
 jQuery(document).ready(function($) {
                 init('arg1', 'arg2');
 });  

it throwed me an error saying "object expected" (but it worked fine on preview mode and published mode in TS 7.2(w/ no errors) and working fine in edit,preview,published modes in TS 6.7.2) so Then, i tried doing like this:

  function addLoadEvent(func) {
  if (window.addEventListener){
    window.addEventListener("load", func, false);
  }else if (window.attachEvent){
    window.attachEvent("onload", func);
  }else { // fallback
   alert("entered else");
    var old = window.onload;
    window.onload = function() {
      if (old) old();
      func();
    };
  }
}   
  addLoadEvent(function(){init('arg1', 'arg2');}); 

it did not throw any errors, but still...it does'nt trigger the init function in my navigation.js, but it works fine in Preview mode and even when i publish my .page to .html. I am attaching my component and my navigation.js Can any one have any idea to overcome this issue. Thanks in Advance

I've given up on having JS run in edit mode. Seems SitePub composes most of the page via JS so the DOM never looks like you'd expect it to in production. You could clutter your JS code with alternate behavior for edit mode, but that's not very good practice. I've taken the route of making sure that my components can produce decent content that allows authors to understand where the component is and what it generally looks like, and then see any dynamic behavior in preview. Then, you add error handling on any JS by checking that your JS was properly loaded in the first place such that it doesn't even attempt to run in edit mode and get into an inconsistent state, e.g

if (jQuery) {
 // production code
}
