Is there a way to find if the DCR is opened in the view mode using form API?

I need to call a funtion when the DCR is opened on view mode.

Repeat after me. FormAPI doe not run in view mode.

So if you can figure out a way to magically determine via FormAPI that FormAPI is not running, you should take the top of the smartest people on devnet list.

Not sure what you are looking to do after you determine if the DCR is in edit mode, but you could add something to the dc_initForm() function (which is called in view mode and not edit mode) in the iw-home/httpd/webapps/content_center/datacapture/datacapture_functions.js file. You will not be able to use FormAPI though.
Any modifications of this file are of course, unsupported. You should place your modifications in the customer_src if possible.

Hidden field in a dct can help you to know the status of the form.

Yes i am referring to dcr based component in site publisher.When i open dcr in component (By previewing after setdefault content) is there any event in formapi can can fire. I am trying to get the component name when i created new dcr from the sitepublisher component.

I don't think you have the way to recognize component name from formapi when you create or edit dcr from site publisher component.
