Change password at login time
lakki
Hi
I would like to know if there is a possibility to prompt a window at login time to change password --
But there are 2 cases attached to this I would really need advise on -
(1) it should be made necessary to change the password (even logout if the user doesnt change it) and
(2) Once the user changes the passsword,it shouldnt be prompted again when they login next time.
Thanks

Because of the plethora of user repositories that you can use with TeamSite, there's no OOTB way of doing what you're looking for. TeamSite isn't, and has never pretended to be a user management tool on top of everything else.

There have been a number of implementations done (at least in the past) where either the login page has been customized to add a "Change Password" button, or a custom menu item has been added for the same - and that on the click of that button (or menu item) an expect script would run to interface with the system to run the commands necessary to go through the process of changing ones password.
These customizations have sometimes worked, and sometimes not worked (or not been debugged and reworked sufficiently to get them to work)
In either case, however, the act of starting the process to change the password was a manual one (click a button or menu item) since TeamSite itself does not interact with your authentication mechanism (it uses OS calls to pass the information provided by the user to gain authentication) it does not know if some local policy dictates that the user needs to change their password within N days, etc. - So I don't believe there is any way to customize the login screen to perform such locally-customized policy checks and then, in turn, automatically prompt a user to change their password.
Theoretically, at least, the user would have had to login to their local system first in order to get to TeamSite - and the local system is the one that should be doing this kind of thing (either on login, or when unlocking the computer after it has gone into sleep or secure lock-mode) - adding the custom button or menu item to help facilitate this is "icing" but basically it's never been (and unlikely ever to be) the responsibility of the application.
