Setting the Modified By Name using command

iwovkash

Hello All,

I am using an IIS based teamsite server with both source and targets on IIS platform. My query is as follows -

When I make a deployment to the target IIS servers, the Modified By attribute in teamsite UI always stays as SYSTEM instead of the person who initiated the workflow. I am using WFM and need to know if there is any way i can set this attribute through it.

Also, i have a few other scripts in Perl which perform operations across workareas. Is there any command line where in the Modified By attribute can be set.

Thanks

Hi,
It seems that during workflow, files are getting updated and owner if that task seems to be SYSTEM. If you want the actual user name instead of SYSTEM then you will have to change owner of that task to actual user.
Let me know whether this is what you are looking for.

Hello,

I have checked the owner for all relevant tasks and they have been assigned the variable $IW_USER which is the workflow variable for the current user.

Also, I am trying to set this name for all perl scripts as well. In that case too, i will need the command line that can actually update the Modified by attribute.

Thanks for your help. Smiley Happy

Are the tasks involved externaltasks or cgitasks?
For cgitasks - you may want to make sure that your URL is something like:

/iw-bin/iw_cgi_wrapper.cgi/yourscript.ipl

rather than just

/iw-bin/yourscript.ipl

Note, this only works for scripts located directly within IWHOME/httpd/iw-bin - if your URL looks like:

/iw-bin/some-dir/yourscript.ipl

you will not be able to use the

iw_cgi_wrapper.cgi

and thus will not get "impersonation" performed to have the script run as the specified TS user.

I did try a few things like iw_cgi_wrapper.cgi and setting "Modified By" as an extended attribute. The good thing was that i managed to get rid of SYSTEM being set. But the problem is that now the perl script which is setting the extattr is on the base server and the server can be accessed only through administration account of OS on that server. Hence, i get the administration account name(OS user) as Modified By instead of currently logged in TS user.

For example - I have an OpenDeploy script OD.xml. Initially on completion of deployment, the Modified By was set to SYSTEM. I modified the OD.xml to run a DnR script (perl) on success of OD which sets the iwextattr Modified By to the current user. This script is kept on base server A with login clientdomain/clientID. So now when the DnR is executed, the Modified By is clientID and not the TS user. The AS="" parameter for DnR works only in case of Unix.
