WFM Perl Preprocessor

I have found a couple of old threads regarding using Perl in a pre/postprocessor command, but no indication that anyone actually implemented it successfully.

I have contacted support and they advised that the usual Perl modules would be available for use. I don't see how I can use WFTask.pm to get a filelist when no task has been instantiated.

Has anyone successfully used Perl in a preprocessor in WFM?

As much as I like Perl and WFT, I must ask. Why ?

You may have to work with either a call-server in the custom-instantiation step or an external/CGI task.

I understand Java is now preferred, especially with WFM, but I am not proficient in Java. I am more comfortable using Perl, so I try to use it whenever possible.

I am trying to set approvals based up assets in the filelist. I can't change conditional links in WFM once the job is instantiated, so my only option is to use a preprocessor command to set variables the conditional links need at instantiation.

Sounds like a call server task to me, if the custom-instantiation step has all the information you need.

Off topic, I am glad there is *someone* on this board with less Java knowledge than me. :-)
