Expire Passwd

Hi,

We are trying to put passwd expire funtunality into our customized change passwd cgi , we are now able to make the shadow file entry for a perticular user to expire in a say 2 days , but when i try to login from ui , i am able to login where as when i try to login from back end it says passwd expred

Q1: why i am able to login even though the passwd has expired ?
Q2: is there any other file , other than etc/shadow file which needs to be altered so that i am not able to login when the passwd has been expire in solaris (backend)

You should not be modifying /etc/passwd or /etc/shadow directly - you should only do so through OS-supported CLTs and/or library interfaces.
