Setting up and configuring Polling component

Binoj1

I am a non-technical business user of IW Teamsite. I would like to to setup a poll on our website. I would really appreciate if someone can point me to a document or resource that lists the steps to do this. Examples will be helpful too.

Fyi, we do have livesite and sitepublisher, and I can insert a polling component on a page but do not know how to configure it with the back-end database to store the results. I tried to change the properties of the polling component but it is not reflecting on the page when I try to see a preview.

Thanks in advance.

The polling component is part of the foundation components, and it may be that the only documentation is in the component guide sample site itself. (Anyone else know different?)

It's meant to be flexible enough to integrate with any polling service, although there's a default implementation that's database-based, and will probably meet your needs.

The main rules of thumb are: (1) Any poll should have a simple PollId value, anything that's unique. Make one up and never change it. (2) Create some candidate values to go in the poll, each with an ID unique from the others in the poll, and obviously don't change those after the poll is published or the results will be invalidated.

The component requires some resources, so that could be your problem, but if it was I would think there would be Javascript errors telling you what it's missing. It requires the page to have:
    /iwov-resources/scripts/foundation/polling.js
    /iwov-resources/scripts/foundation/AjaxRequest.class.js
    /iwov-resources/css/foundation/polling.css

It uses a built-in database table that should have been created with your LiveSite install, so no backend setup needed with the default polling service.

Please make sure your page has the resources above, and if so, post more details about your problem. E.g. What version of TS/LS? If it's not reflecting your changes in preview what does it show?
