radio selection

I have a radio item in DCT with three options.
"Yes" , "No", "Not Sure"
This radio item is marked as required.

DCR is created using this DCT.
When I am creating new form entry, and dont select any option in radio button, I get an error message stating that required field is not filled out.
When I am editing this DCR, radio button should be available for selection again(If it was selected as "yes" for the first time. Selected option is undone with javascript. In edit mode, it is available to be selected for different option. )

In the edit mode, when I dont select a radio button, I am still able to save this DCR (Eventhough its a required field).
1) How is this possible that a field marked as reuired is not filled out and still we are able to save ?
The user who created and editing are both myself. I am not sure whats the behavior when user who created DCR and user who is editing it are different.

2) How can I make sure that , no matter what who is the user, in any mode (new form entry or edit), radio is always required to be selected. Otherwise DCR can not be saved and gives an error message.]

I *think* that the issue happens because your FormAPI change of the value doesn't "dirty" the field, as user input would. A few things I'd try:

* After you unselect an option, call the iwItem.isValid() or somesuch to try to trigger the validation
* use the onSave handler to explicitly validate it yourself
* [unsafe] I don't remember the details, but there's a boolean and perhaps even a function on iwItem.itemImpl that you might be able to set manually, but that's undocumented so you're on your own to support it

That validation has nothing to do with permissions.

I have taken reference from existing script. Everything is same.

It works with the DCT from where I have taken the reference and not the new script that I have created.

What can be the issue ?

Well that opens up a bit of a can of worms...

* Is the script from the same server or at least from the same TS version?
* Did you copy the entire script or just a piece of it? It might be doing other things that you haven't copied over.
* Is the form structure the same? It's possible that the validation is triggered properly if an item is at the root, but not 3 containers deep.

I copied the function that deselects the radio buttons and it works fine, except this issue

I am wondering, rathger than doing all this, can I just reset the value of radio item to unselected ?
How can I set the value of all options to unselected ? I looked at manual and it says that value is in number. Please provide me an idea , do I need to set value for individual option or can I just set the value for radio item ?

I can access the item as a/b/radiob.setValue(); (I am not sure what to provide as value in parantheses)
I can access option using item.getOptions()[item.getValue()].value.

I may be horribly wrong somewhere in syntax, so pls excuse me. This is logic, which needs to be implemented.

The straight answer is no, that's not going to work. The fact that you think that looks even remotely right scares me. You need to get yourself a real TeamSite developer, or at the very least someone who understands web development.

In any case, the answer to your question is that setValue() takes a numeric value which indicates the index of the option you want to select. I would guess that a setValue(-1) or setValue(null) might unselect the value, but I haven't tried it.
