Multiple Target Deployment

Dear All,

We have a requirement to deploy files from base server to multiple target servers.

Single source -> 5 different target servers.

As of now we are deploying to single target server and needs to change the configurations files for 5 different target server.

Case1. Same files needs to deploy to all target servers of same location/directories.

Case2. Some set of files needs to deploy to only defined set of target servers. For example image,css,js files needs to deploy to target server1 and html/asp files needs to deploy to target server2 etc.,

We had the files on

Base server: odbase.xml, odnodes.xml and wft_opendeploy.xml
Receiver Serversdnodes.xml, odrcvr.xml

What are all the configuration files that I need to edit for multiple target servers.

All the target servers deployment locations are same (directories).

I think you need to either spend a bit more time with the manuals and/or get some OD training - this is fairly basic stuff.

You could try to do this all with one deployment configuration file, or you could use distinct deployment configuration files for distinct deployment scenarios.

You could define the replicationFarm within your deployment configuration file, but I believe it's better to define them within odnodes.xml (requires serverreset to read modifications), then you have the option of referencing the replicationFarm via hard-coded specifications within the deployment configuration file, or passing in the name of the farm to use as a parameter into your deployment configuration file.

If you want to do this all in one, you need to set up distinct definitions and use filters, or pre-filter the list of files into two distinct file lists and pass them in as distinct parameters.

Essentially, what you appear to be asking to do is not all that difficult if you understand OpenDeploy configuration - but since we have nothing to look at by way of an existing deployment configuration file, odnodes.xml and/or the manner in which you are invoking OpenDeploy, there is little we can do to provide actual specifics of how to implement it for you.

Again, I recommend reading the manuals, taking training, and/or experimenting with it (if need be in simulation mode) so that you can teach yourself how to do what you want.
