LDAP SSL certificate install error

I am trying to install new certificates on our teamsite servers as our LDAP server are migrating. I tried using the built in java keytool utility but it's throwing error

keytool -keystore truststore -import -alias path-to-certificate -file rootca.crt -trustcacerts
Enter keystore password:
keytool error: java.io.IOException: Keystore was tampered with, or password was incorrect

I have received two certificates to install, I am not sure what I am doing wrong here, there is not much documentation too I could find.
