TeamSite 7.2.1 and MediaBin 4.6.1 SP1 Compatibility

Hi,

Currently running TeamSite 6.7.2 SP2 on Linux.
Planning an upgrade to TeamSite 7.2.1 on Linux but would like to leave my MediaBin version on 4.6.1 SP1.

Has anyone tried this? Documentation says TeamSite 7.2.1 requires MediaBin Virage 7+ but I'd like to hold off on the MediaBin upgrade till later time.

It depends on what you're doing with it, I guess. In 7.x, the MB web services are the same as they were in 4.6 (or backwards compatible, at least), but the configuration of the ECM connector was moved and redone, along with the rest of the administration console.

Ultimately, you could try this in a sandbox environment, but if the document says it's not a supported configuration, then that's reason enough to stay away from it unless there's some key requirement in 7.x that you need now.

yeah. I'll sandbox and see. We do use web services and ECM connector here, so will probably need to do them both.

were you able to sort this out? we recently (and being the fool i am) upgraded to 7.3.1 and realized our current mediabin (4.6.x) isn't supported. the connector throws all kindsa crazy errors. and of course Autonomy doesn't include upgrades to mediabin 7 even though we bought lifetime licenses and are paying out the a$$ for "support"

Yea Virage MediaBin is different from MediaBin. Another company I worked with was able to get a patch from support to make the ECM connector work with MB 4.6

Most interesting, thanks Nipper. Support pretty much laughed at us when we got them on the phone about fixes/workarounds. I'm guessing you don't have the patch still? Smiley Happy

No I did not install it, the customer did.

Work through your sales team, that may help.
