Mediabin 4.6.2 Replication
yuvpurush
Mediabin 4.6.2
We have a PROD and DR Mediabin server located at 2 different data centers. We want to enable replication from PROD to DR.
Below is per my understanding for the replication.
Content Replication:
Synchronize the entire MBDataDirectory folder from PROD to DR
Database Replication:
Synchronize all the tables except the MBSettings table
Is my assumption correct or am i missing something?
Also, can we setup a realtime replication rather than once a day. In teamsite that is not possible, as we need to freeze the content store before replication. I don't re-collect any such limitation for the MBDataDirectory folder.
Any further insights are highly appreciated.
Thanks

I would suggest only replicating ImageDb and its subfolders after making a static copy of the other subdirectories of MBDataDirectory. For example, you will not be able to recover login sessions after a crash and so replicating the ocnnections directory makes no sense. Neither does trying to replicate the temp directory.
You similarly do not want to replicate the Jobs table in the database.
MediaBin does commit changes in steps (i.e., a database transaction is combined with an operation on the filesystem) and so realtime replication is not guaranteed (depending on when your "disaster" happens), however the consequences of a problem are more localized than they would be in TeamSite. I.e., you could potentially end up with an asset in the database missing its underlying data. The other problem (an unreferenced file) is only a problem in terms of disk space.
