compare page link to current page

I am trying to make a SitePub component that contains a list of links for navigation. I have been trying to make it compare each link href in the list with the url of the current page, and if so, set the anchors class=active. Here is the code I have so far:

I have confirmed that $the-page and $the-link appear to be exactly the same when the component is viewed on the right page, but for some reason the test="" doesn't evaluate them as being equal. Any help is appreciated.

First, the way you're getting the current page just seems like a really bad idea. Use this instead:

<xsl:variable name="the-page"><xsl:value-of select="//page_info/@pagename"/&gt;</xsl:variable>

Second, the way you're comparing pages seems really wonky, as you're dependent on the host, port and context root to be all the same. Also, this won't work in preview because of the way links are rendered as the current page seed + link target. If you're building this from a LiveSite sitemap, then as you loop through nodes you can do this check (where $currentNode is a <Node> in the sitemap tree):

<xsl:if test="$currentNode/link/value = $the-page"/>

In your current setup with a PageLink datum, you have to do something a bit more clever to remove the $PAGE_LINK[] **** and just get at what's inside it.
