Global Group works in one backing Store but not an

I have created a second backing store in our TeamSite environment and am attempting to build a workflow for one of our business users. The sharedby group is the SAME group used by this business user in the old backing store but when I try and run the workflow, I get a message stating that user NORTHEAST\username is not allowed to modify the workarea cigna\...\...\blah. Other global groups work just fine in this workflow and this particular group works fine in the original backing store. Any suggestions for finding a solution to this dilemma?
