Preview is not generating output and gives 404 error

I have created JSP file in "//264267-npconten/default/main/Microsites/WORKAREA/en_US/content/green/ordering-overview" path

When I edit this page and click on preview, I can see preview file is generated in "//264267-npconten/default/main/Microsites/WORKAREA/en_US/"

Now when I try to preview this page by clicking on the preview button in the UI, it gives error "HTTP Status 404 - /1308131529275_nirjarip_preview.jsp"

Below is the code in templating.cfg, where preview is configured

Redirect for jsp page from preview dir is as follows.
_regex=^/iw-mount/default/main/Microsites/WORKAREA/en_US/(.*jsp)=http://localhost:8082/$1

"Y:\default\main\Microsites\WORKAREA\en_US" , this is the path where zz_tst_nirjarip_11_1308132882985_nirjarip_preview.jsp is created.

I have doubt, whether redirect to jsp page works in this way. Is not a jsp page required to be is a specific dir ?

What can be wrong in here ? How can I solve this issue. I have been trying to solve this since last couple of days now.

First, a safer regex would be the following, so that you're not just catching anything that has the letters 'jsp' in the file name:
_regex=^/iw-mount/default/main/Microsites/WORKAREA/en_US/(.+\.jsp(\?.+)?)$=http://localhost:8082/$1

Second, make sure http://localhost:8082/1308131529275_nirjarip_preview.jsp (or whatever the file name is) actually renders something. Most likely, your preview servlet container can't find that file.

Third, use iwproxy in debug mode to check that the request is being forwarded as you expect it to.

How do I check 1308131529275_nirjarip_preview.jsp renders something ? Do I test this file in some other environment by copying it ? This file does not contain any details. I guess its just a pointer to some other file. PLs let me know, how to check that it does render something. But how does it affect error message anyways ? If it does not render anything then error message should not be 404.

My point was that you're redirecting JSP requests to this URL, where I'm hoping you set up a servlet container to do something smart. Since you're redirecting your preview requests to this location, you should be able to test that accessing this URL directly renders the results you're expecting.

On the command line, with the -d flag. You have to shut down the iwproxy service first, since you can't run two instances of it concurrently. Refer to the CLT guide for more information.

If I shut down iwproxy service by stopping its service on windows server, does it not stop proxy server ? How can I test it after stopping it ? How am I running two instances of iwproxy, if I am running it from command line with -d flag ?

Is not the jsp pages rendered by JBoss app server ? iwproxy sends request to IIS server, which renders HTML pages which does not require any processing. For JSP pages to be rendered, it needs to be executed and then it can be rendered for display. If there is no jboss to process JSP page, how will java code in jsp be executed ?

I have stopped iwproxy service and executed iwproxy -d as follows. But I did not see any output in redirected file

The proxy service is running "iwproxy.exe" -- the same command you run in debug mode. So when you go run "iwproxy.exe -d", you're running a completely independent instance of the service via your command line. It's not connecting TO the service, it IS the service. That's why you can't run both at the same time. And yes, when you stop the Windows IWProxy service, you kill (many) HTTP requests *until* you start the process again on the command line.

The output you posted above is useless. What you want is to leave the command line debug version running, and then try accessing the URLs in your browser. The debug output should print all requests as they come in, and what the iwproxy is rewriting them to be. To get a feel for it, stop piping the output to a file and look at how the console reacts when you navigate the TSUI in your browser.

I am having issues with "Generate" of similar kind

When I execute this command, no iwproxy_output_d.txt is getting created and command prompt just comes back on command line again at "C:\Interwoven\TeamSite\bin>"

When I just execute iwproxy -d on command line, I get to see the whole output on command console. But when I try to collect output in a file, command just comes back on command line. So I can not check what happens when I try to preview the file as iwproxy command is not running.

How can I catch the output of iwproxy -d in a file when the command is running ?

That dollar-sign ($) should be an ampersand (&) - try changing that and see if it works any better.

Note - using paths with spaces in them (e.g.: "Documents and Settings") could also be causing issues - I suggest you use something like C:\temp\ or similar.
