You question is confusing. Your title says" creating dcr from database value" and your question inside indicates that you are trying to populate a field in your dcr with a value.

If its the second one, then use an inline command to call some code that reads your data from the database. If you're using perl there's plenty of examples on the web to get data from a database.

I would suggest you post more information about the type of field (textare, select, etc) and what version of TeamSite you're running.

Are you expecting when you create a DCR should load values from DB as dropdown or default read only values?
if yes then it has lots of options to achieve
1. Use Datasource execution in your Form API, change logic depends on your requirement.
2. Use Inline execution as command or Datasource

Before that please let me know your environment details.
Datasource will be applicable in later version of Teamsite only(6.7.2 onwards)

Please be clear what you are expecting and what is the requirement

I would use a perl script to do that.

I will create a sample DCR and use that as a template to populate. The DCR is nothing but an XML file.

Follwing is an example

You can use a perl script to update this. Replace the varibales using a perl script which can be read from database or extract to a file (may be using a colon( Smiley Happy
