DCT and TPL distribution

Hello.

I'm looking for some suggestions on any alternative approaches to the distrubution of DCTs and TPLs around workareas.

At the moment we use a distribute process based on a submit trigger. When a DCT or TPL is submitted from a specific workarea in a specific branch that file is copied to all other workareas in all other branches and then submitted from a specific workarea in that branch. In theory this should keep all of them consistent. In practice we're seeing a number of issues with versions and failed submits which I'm looking into.

In the mean time though the thought occurs that there is probably another way to manage this. Basically what I'm hoping is that there is some magic way to map the DCT and TPL in a given workarea to the DCT and TPL in a "master" workarea or Staging area. I gave a symlink a try and that didn't work.

Does anyone have any inspiration?

I did a GearUp presentation on this a couple years ago.

Basically make the TPL a single line iw_include and the DCT an inline call and then reference something outside hte workarea to generate the proper XML/TPL code

Yes we can achieve this using iw_include and inline call but it has limitation. When we go by the whole DCT as inline call, the inline command in inline wont be executed if it has. For example multi level of inline execution not supported unless to do some customization.

Inline calls execution happens only on form load, once the form loads it cant execute if any inline founds.
