In this example demo.xsl operates on template with element wow. This seems like a DCR, which has root-element and an XSL can operate on it

In case of TPL using Perl, we dont need ro load DCR, but we can directly access the elements. But it looks like while using XSL, we have to load DCR. If this understanding is not correct, then how can we access elements of a DCR without loading in TPL ?

The example you posted is extremely simplified - there's no DCR values being used, so it doesn't matter what DCR might have been selected to be processed by that particular PT.

iwov_xslt was a means for using XSL within a Perl/XML PT.

The newer versions of TS (I believe 6.7.2+) provide the option of using either the Perl-based PT engine -or- a pure XSLT PT engine - so if you want to use XSLT, use XSLT completely, rather than an ad-hoc window to XSLT within a Perl-based PT.

The only time you must use the XSLT engine is if you are using "non-OS Users" (I believe this is primarily with regard to Unix systems) - where the Perl-based PT engine won't work correctly because the surrounding system cannot perform impersonation at the OS level for non-OS users.

If you look through the IWHOME/examples directory you should be able to find examples of pure XSLT PTs along with DCTs from which you can create DCRs and thus see a more reasonable example of using XSLT for processing DCR content.
