Set task timeout, configure successor as a "reminder" mail task. Configure mail task to transition back
to the original task (loop back) upon completion

sure, i am new to cms world.
actually,i have to develop workflow in which if user select any locked file and press performs unlock operation then if unlock is successful then send success msg through email otherwise failure msg.
and i have to add one lock task mail ,dummy task,timeout ,transition link and send reminder through mail.

intially this much is needed then other task i need to add in it.

i am developing a new workflow which includes
start-> lock taks-> email notify success ->transition link->dummy(ie delay opeartion)task -> submit ->reminder(ie sending an email through external task) ->user task -> end.

i developed many workflows and added tasks one by one.few workflows are working using unlock and email task and now when i added transition link->dummy(ie delay opeartion)task -> submit ->reminder(ie sending an email through external task) .it is successfully validated and running but not getting unlock and reminder mails.i am not getting where is the problem.

is it sufficient information to understand?

I'm a bit confused here - first you say you want the workflow to perform an unlock operation, now you're saying that you're using a LockTask - which is the opposite function.

The LockTask provides for both failure and success transitions - each of which can be a transition to a MailTask or an ExternalTask that sends email.

A custom ExternalTask that performs unlocking can either take care of sending the email itself (it's custom code you can add custom code for sending emails too) or can transition to different tasks based upon internal logic - one for success, one for failure (these are both "default" links, as opposed to "failure" and "success" links) each of which could then be a MailTask or another ExternalTask.

Unfortunately, without seeing the actual job specification file and custom scripts being invoked as part of the process - it's a bit difficult to debug. With seeing those things, then it's a matter of how much we want to put into debugging your issues.

I think you need to spend some more time debugging your issues yourself to, if not resolve them, at least identify more distinctly the location of the problem so you can post more specific details about the distinct issue rather than dumping the entire thing here in the forums.
