Deployments hang when using checksumVerify="yes"

Hello,

I am trying to implement checksum verification of deployments (transactional filelist based deployment from teamsite workarea to web server of a "regular" file w/out EA). I have modified my deployment configuration and added


checksumVerify="yes"

to the appropriate transferRules element. Now, deployments "hang" :

i can see that they are active by using iwodcmd serverstatus on the base and both receivers
i see the expected logs and manifests on the base and both receivers
the macro log on the base has last line "Waiting for 2 children to complete phases"
the micro logs on the base have last line "Sending [./sites/sibos2010/conferencedata/pages/sample.txt] [reason file_list]"
the macro logs on the receivers have last line "Waiting for 1 children to complete phases"
the micro logs on the receivers have last line " FailedCommit 0" (after "PRECOMMIT")

... and the whole thing just hangs like that... the file never arrives at the destination (that i can see). I don't even see the transfered file NAME in any macro or micro log on the receiver side.

Anybody have any experience with getting checksumVerify working? What am i doing wrong?

Your signature says OD 6.2

I haven't used either of these options, and there doesn't seem to be any mention in the 6.2.1 documentation about any dependence of one option on the other, but you might try experimenting with configuring the other one as well and see if it makes a difference.

also tried using only checksumCompare (on the comparisonRules) - works like a charm (so it's not like the base/receiver can't calculate file checksums)

Well - based on that I'd say you have fodder for a Support case - I suggest you follow up that way (and let us know what happens)

Thanks, but i'm not going to bother. I don't feel like spending all that time and effort just to get the canned answer "upgrade to the latest version and see if the problem persists", which i'm planning on doing anyways at some point in the not too distanst future. What can i say? I haven't had a great experience with support so far.

So this would seem to indicate that checksums can only be used for remotediff operations (which kind of makes sense) - but it would also seem that there's a bug in which, instead of issuing a warning or ignoring the directive in filelist deployments it causes it to hang.
I'd suggest that someone who's actually trying to use this feature (not me) open a case with Support - at the very least the documentation should be fixed to stress that it only works with remotediff operations, but a software bug should be filed to either ignore or error out with a suitable message if one attempts to use this in a filelist operation.
