Make Datum Required and setting max and min Replicatable ?

Hi all,
I have two requirements:
1. On a component I need to make title field ( string datum ) required.
2. On a component I need to make sure user selects at least 2 DCR but no
more than 5.

I read in previous thread that it is not directly possible and one way of achieving this is to handle error in XSLT. Has anyone overcome this problem in more elegant way ? Any suggestion would be greatly appreciated.

Have you tried using the min and max attribute of the datum tag.
