Searching for Workspaces Templates
ManoloMadrid
Hi Everybody:
We have created a program which creates workspaces from templates originated by the worksite web template management tool.
The idea is to search for the required template and duplicate the structure with the attributes introduced by the user in a form.
The problem we have is that in clients using 8.5 indexer the search for workspaces by name is not returning workspace templates.
We have considered to use a custom field to do it, but in some of our clients there is no free customs available
How can we search workspace templates by name against indexer 8.5??
Thanks in advance

This is a side effect from the change in WorkSite where searching for a workspace by name now goes through the Indexer instead of searching in the database table directly. It's pretty annoying when you had custom creation tools (we ourselves have a system that can create new workspaces from any existing workspace in any database).
Basically, it means you'll at least have to wait until the indexer has indexed the name of your new workpace before you can find it by name. If you are sure the indexing took place, but can still not find it, then you'll have to troubleshoot the indexer to figure out the issue (start with reading the issues fixed in the release that comes after the one you're currently using
).
When we can, we tend to use something like Custom1 = 'WSTEMPLATES' and Custom2 = 'LITIGATION'. The Custom fields are still handled by direct database searches, so this always works instantly.
Also, if the client is using Custom1 for client alias and Custom2 for matter alias, there tend to be so many fields in there that one extra for this purpose is generally not a problem.
For Personal or Department workspaces though, it's a bit of a nuisance.
