Presentation Template and iwutild_cmdout.log

iwutild_cmdout.log records errors when a command is executed at cmd line and error is generated. Presentation template has got tags and if there is an XML error in TPL, it still reports in iwutild_cmdout.log. Are TPL tags being executed at cmd line ? If no, the how come these errors are reported in this log file ?

You're reading too much into it. As much as I'd like to answer "why does it matter since you can't change it anyway"... the file should really have been named iwutild_stdout.log, since all it does is capture the STDOUT from the iwutild process. The iwutild runs the template compilation (the whole TPL, not just individual tags), so yes, the output it captures is what would show up on the command line if you used iwpt_compile.ipl with output to a file.
