delete instance which contains TinyMCE

I'm having trouble deleting a container instance that includes an element that uses TinyMCE.

The instance is collapsed and the tinymce field is set to invisible.
When I try to delete the instance I get an error that says:

editor is undefined
editor.removeEditorControl();

If I uncollapse the instance and set the TinyMCE fields to visible, I get this error:

e is null
h = t.setContent(is(e.value) ? e.value : e.innerHTML, o);

Anyone know how to resolve this?
