CSSDK to access a workarea Description

I am writing a small JSP file to display information about workareas.

I have an array of Workarea nodes as follows
CSWorkarea[] nodes;

I am able to access the vPaths using:
nodes.getVPath().toString();

However, I wish to access the workarea description.
I see CSArea has this method, but I can't seem to access it.

Anyone get any ideas?

As a followup:

I'm able to use:

CSArea patsArea = (CSArea)nodes;
patsArea.setDescription("hi");

To set the workarea description, this works fine, but patsArea.getDescription(); keeps returning the Workarea name and not it's description......
