Script Variables in WFM 1.0.1.1

Hello,

I would like to know the steps to create script variables through WorkflowModeler 1.0.1.1.

I went through the worflowmodeler documentation but did not understand as to how to map the value of these variables with existing groups and user in teamsite.

Any help would be appreciated.

The script variable is responsible for performing the logic of determining what value should be used - it, itself, is not mapped based on external information.

e.g.:

if ("$IW_USER".match('sanhitaroyc')) {
    "novice";
} else if ("$IW_USER".match('ghoti')) {
    "guru";
} else {
    "unknown";
}

Any place within the WFM where you need one of those three values ("novice", "guru", "unknown") you would use your Script Variable.

To make things easier - when you define the Script Variable, make sure to change the ID to something useful, like "KnowledgeLevel" - then when you go to use that variable, it becomes "$IW_SCRIPT('KnowledgeLevel')" rather than something like "$IW_SCRIPT('138483928384')"

You can define the script globally (at the workflow properties level) or locally (at the task properties level) - if you want to use the same logic in multiple places, you definitely want to define it globally. If you only want to use the logic in one place you can choose whether to define it globally or locally, though I think it's better to do so globally (have all the definitions in one place)

I suppose you might be able to define the value of one Script Variable based on another - like:

if ("$IW_SCRIPT('KnowledgeLevel')" == "guru") {
    true;
} else { 
    false;
}

though I haven't tried this.
