Database locked error

Hi,
Can anybody point us as to why we are getting an error message while editing any of the DCTs that the DB is locked.Contact Administrator.

we are using Oracle as DB, DataDeploy is enabled and was working till yesterday.

Your are getting DB locked when you edit a DCR ? That makes little sense (unless you are using DAS, but I would expect that error on same).

Is the backingstore locked ? Can you edit any file ?

If it is truly the DB, then you need a DBA involved.

A hung deployment can cause that to happen.

Does this DCT have any inline or callserver scripts that perform DB interactions?

If so - that would be where I'd begin looking for the real source of the problem - and you'll probably have to check with the DBA too. I've seen cases where someone using a DB interface tool (like "toad", etc.) modifies some data in a table and forgets to perform the commit - and this locks the DB so that other processes cannot do their modifications of the data - a DBA can usually break such locks (until the next time someone does it)

we restarted the Oracle and removed the lock but now the DD is failing without an error.
Any pointers?

There is going to be a log *somehwere* in od-home/logs

You have to look for and and post the error.

post the log files of the data deployment that is failing (verify the timestamp).

Hi,
I hope you are on linux.
Assuming that your Oracle DB is also on Linux.
login as root user and run su - oracle
then run sqlplus "/as sysdba"
startup;
if the Oracle service is already started, you will get a message that the service is already started.
then type exit on cmd.
now just type lsnrctl start.
if the listener is started it will give you a message that listener is already running or else you will get a confirmation message.

The listener was already started by the DBA.

Hi,
Post your log files under Od-home/logs.
check the timestamps and post the recent one.
I hope then only someone can help you out.
