Inline DCR Editing

Is it possible to edit a DCR Inline in Site Publisher 7.x. I know how to implement in-context editing for a DCR but this solution will not work for business users as they dont want to see the DCR window poping up (even with a DCR field relevant to the clicked area of component ).

Is there a way to allow inline editing of DCR content in a component?

That has been available in SP since 6.7.2.

Check the DCR component guide example. Open the page and click on the field.

which DCR Component guide example are you talking about? i cannot find it anywhere.

Also just to be clear, in-context editing can be done in 2 ways:
1. inline - using which users can edit the content on the page itself by clicking on the field.
2. Window - even if users click on the specific field, a pop up window opens up with only the specific field appearing from DCR.

If i use <span in-context-edit ....... > tags, it implements solution 2 and NOT 1. I want to implement solution 1 for DCRs.
Please let me know how i can achieve that?

i checked the example. It works fine for a component whose Datum type is 'String', 'Number' or 'Textarea' as in-context editing actually becomes inline editing. But this example doesn't mention anything about DCRs.

When it comes to DCR, in-context editing doesn't become In-Line editing as it still opens up the DCR (although opens up with only one field from the DCR).

I need a solution to enable inline editing for components which are using DCRs.

I am talking choice 1.

Even this example is solution 2 and not solution 1 as a DCR window pops up whenever doing in-context editing in the page. It doesnt allow me to do inline editing.

Any other thoughts?

Ended up using Window based Editing only. Could not find a way to allow inline editing with DCRs.
