Transitioning from External Task to CGI Task

Hi

(Workflow Modeller)I have a External task to generate html files upon successful generation of html files, workflow should transition to the next task which is to create manifest file(CGI TASK).

Currently when workflow is invoked, the external task executes and succeeds without transitioning to CGI task(for creating manifest file).I have to go to the Workflow tab in TeamSite and manually click on "Start Input Task" button. Not sure why this is happening.

Can some one suggest How can i transition to CGI Task from external task without clicking on Start Input Task Button Manually.
I am attaching my external task ipl code.
Environment TS6.7.2

You are wrong when you say that the external task is not transitioning - it is transitioning. The issue is that the CGI Task is not starting immediately - and if you read the Workflow Developer's Guide (or the Workflow Tutorial Supplement or a variety of posts within this forum) you'll find the information that will essentially tell you why this is so, and why (in the scenario you've indicated) you will never be able to make it start automatically.

In my scenarion the first task is External Task which does a generation of html files.and the second task is CGI which creates a manifest file.and the owner of CGI is same as the owner of external task..

I refered to some of the posts on devnet regarding CGI task after group task...to change the owner..But here i dont have that problem..
Can u please explain how can i change the scenario to make the CGI Task start immediately or can you please refer to one of the posts.

Regardless of the immediate attribute's value and the owner (or anything else for that matter) a cgi task will not run automatically
right after external Task predecessor. As already noted by Ghoti, you may check WF Developer's Guide to see when CGI does run
automatically, it's clearly documented

Consider combining the code in your externaltask program into your cgitask program and then removing the externaltask so that the cgitask is your start task.

Have you tried reading the Workflow Developer's Guide - the section on cgitask's that defines when the immediate='t' attribute has an effect? Note, this is the Developer's Guide - not the Workflow Modeler User's Guide.

The issue is resolved I have gone throught WF Developer guide..

My mistake:

I used WFTask:callBack instead of iwcallback after using iwcallback CGI Task is running immediately...without asking for stat Input Task..

what you are asking for is clearly documented in two readily available Manuals

Re-read this very thread. Pay attention to this proposal, that's just about the only thing you can do
