Hi,

I am using TS 6.7.1. i want to explore existing functionality, therefore i want to open RUNTHIS.cgi.

When i open this CGI, its shows junk characters.
Please help me here, how can i open this file and check existing code.

I have tried for /iw-bin/iw_cgi_wrapper.cgi wrapper CGI also, but getting same junk characters.

Please suggest.

What is "RUNTHIS.cgi"?
What encoding are you viewing you web page in within the browser? Try changing it to a different character encoding and see if that helps.

We are using window os.
In that ui_custom.xml we have following details

With the help of these CGI we can display command prompt at content center window and can execute CLT there itself.

When i tried to open RUNTHIS.cgi in notepad or any tool like editplus. its shows junk characters.
same thing is happen for iw_cgi_wrapper.cgi file

This is not "junk characters". What you are looking at is a compiled binary code in your Platform executable format.

Without Module's Source code it is next to impossible to get meaningful information from the executable. In theory
(and with proper tools/skill) you can perhaps decompile executable code back into some Assembly Language - if you can
read one. In practice though try to find Documentation/Source Code for the RUNTHIS Module. It is not part of TS so
somebody at some time developed it for your Client, hopefully it's documented

yes its looking like encoded code.
But is it possible to having .CGI extension for executable files like .EXE?

when i open that code in notepad, then code is like "This program cannot be run in DOS mode."

I have got "RUNTHIS.IPL" file at same location. they might have used $perlcc -o RUNTHIS.CGI RUNTHIS.IPL

to create executable file from IPL file. if you have any idea about this. Please provide some lights on this.

I think what you are seeing is a copy of show_env.cgi. It was probably used as a cgi-wrapper for running the RUNTHIS.PL file.

show_env.cgi was copied and then renamed as RUNTHIS.CGI. Your RUNTHIS.PL file is the real code.
