entity db question

Hello.

I have at one time recreated the entity db. So all my users favorites etc were cleared out.

One issue Im dealing with is some of the settings in the entity db for a particular user Im not sure how to put back.

For example I have a user that does a file/new form entry/her form

The her form is now not an option for her. I assume there is some type of path I have to add in the admin console for this particular user.
For example this line here was removed(I know because I saved a copy of the entitydb)

current_vpath = "//CITYINET/default/main/Internet/rochestermn.gov/WORKAREA/Finance/departments/finance_is/biditems"

Not being able to see that form has to do with the settings in templating.cfg. I would think that perhaps you removed something from the entity db that relates to permissions (role or group or access rights) that would normally have allowed your user to validate against templating.cfg rules and have access to the form.

Why arent the former entity profile paths are not showing up in the users current profile is beyond me. I wonder what would have to happen. Here is a sample of what I mean.

The new one has newly added favorites but no vpaths. Im wondering why those wouldnt automatically be added back in when the user logs in. What must I do to get them back in her profile?

1) I think you're going in the wrong direction completely. The entity DB is intended to store user preferences and settings, not application configuration. I still suspect that your problem is related to templating.cfg. Certainly, available_templates.cfg has absolutely nothing to do with access to forms.

2) If you're that concerned about the entity DB, just remove the user and add it back. It'll get a new ID and entityDB file from scratch, and you can stop messing around with those manually.

I agree 100 % about the templating.cfg. And that file is read at some point and those settings are placed into a users profile.

The profile in questions doesnt have those settings.
For example these two paths are missing from her profile in the entity data&colon;

So my question is when does the templating.cfg get parsed? Do I need to do a reset of teamsite services?

templating.cfg gets parsed every time a user does File -> New Form or the equivalent in the CCStd portlet.

current_vpath is, to my knowledge, only relevant when browsing in TeamSite. If you log out, and log back in, it'll know where to send you in the virtual file system. I'd be very surprised if that's used at all by the templating engine.

The point is, you should really stop messing around with the entity db because you're way off in unsupportedland. Is there some reason why you're avoiding removing and re-adding the user?

rpoulin. I have no problem removing a user from entity data.

iwuser -d -loc E::43 (43 being the number of the user)

But the user will get added back when they login to teamsite.

I deleted my entity data because that is what support at autonomy told me to do. One user was losing their favorites everytime teamsite services were restarted. Would have been simpler to just remove one user from the entity data but Im new to teamsite so...I ended up getting alot of support tickets from users who lost there favorites. So it ended up fixing the one users problem but caused a bunch more.

So now I have noticed a couple users who are missing current_vpath settings.
Ive removed each of them from entity data and asked them to log back int his am. Next I might try saving a new version of templating.cfg to see if that forces the correct templatedata paths to be read by these couple users.

Any other ideas please holler. Thanks.

I would agree with the assessment that the templating.cfg does not have anything to do with the issue you are experiencing.

Once a user is removed and their Entity DB entry is also removed (I believe that happens automatically when removing the user) then it stands to reason that they will no longer have any of their old "favorites" once they are added back in.

The question is, once they are added back in, and start re-creating favorites - do they still mysteriously disappear?

Also - once they are added back in and navigate around, the vpaths that you see in the Entity DB should start showing up again as they are, as was mentioned, used for restoring "state" when a user re-enters TeamSite.

So - the test there is:

As long as the path retention works - don't sweat not seeing that information in the entity db (though I think it will be there).If the favorites disappear again - that's a distinct issue - and again, has nothing to do with templating.cfg.
