TeamSite 7.2 Installation on Virtual Server - "in the Cloud"

maddy

Hi,

I have an urgent requirement to install and configure TeamSite 7.2 environment along with LS and Targeting features on virtual servers hosted over a cloud environment.

I would like to know if anything similar has been done previously by any of you folks and how challenging it would be to do the same.

Does Interwoven Professional Services provide support or have any case studies to showcase such implementation. Any pointers available could be of great help.

Thanks

Did you check with Support for this?

Someone has been in a webinar huh ?

Are they looking at Teamsite server itself ? Or are they thinking the externla web servers (running OpenDeploy and LSDS) ? The latter makes a lot of sense, not too certain about TS.

If it's anything like the advice about installing TeamSite into a virtual server environment (forget about the "cloud" bit), then they'll say "yes, but..."

The "but" being that they can't guarantee performance; you will need to make sure that TeamSite has good/fast disk IO., and that the normal CPU/RAM recommendations may need to be adjusted upwards, especially if this is going to be high-usage service.

BTW: there are lots of organisation who use a remote TeamSite server that's installed in a virtual farm that they access from the other side of the World - what's the key differentiator you have in mind that makes your "cloud" install different?

We are using Teamsite 6.7.2 Sp2 on VM ware. We have noticed too much degradation in Performance.

personally i will never recommned using TS on VM ware.

I have done several production implementations on VMW without much trouble, so this surprises me.

It is not easy to do this sort of benchmarking, there are too many
moving parts to make sure that you compare apples and apples.

We use numerous TS Installs (CMS Prod, Dev, Intranet and whatnot) exclusively on VMW
for years. None of the fixed or existing performance issues were ever attributed to VMW.

I'll like to know what are the specs of his physical machine, how much Ram, disk space, he has allotted to the VMWare?
