Unable to save a DCR | Teamsite 7.2.1

Hi ,
I am performing Teamsite Migration from teamsite 6.7.1 to Teamsite 7.2.1. I have copied the iw-store from old server to new server and then installed teamsite. I have performed all the installation steps as per autonomy installation/migration guide. After succesful installation I have copied the following configuration files as it is from old server to new server and rebooted and the server
1. templating.cfg.
2. tsusers.xml and tsgroups.xml
3. roles.xml

Now when I am saving a DCR after new form entry or modifying the DCR , I am getting the following error
"Save was unsuccessful. Check the path or contact your TeamSite administrator."

com.interwoven.cssdk.common.CSException: Unknown Hopi error(Failure in operation)
at com.interwoven.cssdk.sci.exception.ExceptionHandler.handleExceptionSci(ExceptionHandler.java:264)

I have attached a doc containing screenshot of error message and also error message for this error from
/usr/Interwoven/TeamSite/local/logs/iwui/content_center.log

I tried creating a new teamsite user and then logged in with its login and then tried saving a DCR but its giving same error.

Hi,
Try disabling any FormAPI and try it. See if the error goes away.

I hope it is because of FormAPI only.

Is your iwhome (installation path) the same for this new installation as the old one?
Do you have the correct permissions on this new system?

Adding to santosh013's question, do you have any FormAPI calls that perform any functions On Save?

Please attach your datacapture.cfg file. Also, I don't see this log file that you say you attached.

Hi,
I checked saving a DCR with a valid name which has no formapi calls but getting the same error.
Yes the new teamsite is installed on a different location (new Server location : /usr/Interwoven/TeamSite and old server location /usr/iw-home/) and permission on old server and new server is as follows
Old server

This is default installation and we have not modified any permissions after installation.

If it's in a different location and your cgi callouts or any of your custom code points to the old location then you need to fix these.

A "temporary" workaround would be to make a symbolic link using the old path and point it to the new path. This would let you know if you have an issue with the changed path.

After confirming that it's the path differences, search for /usr/iw-home/ in your ipl files and replace with a non-static reference.

Another part of you troubleshooting should be to remove any fields with callouts. You will probably see that it works fine without them with will further confirm that you have an issue in your custom ipl files.

What does this section do?
Is the path correct?
Is the code and pathing inside correct?
What happens if you remove it?

Today I found that even though I am getting this pop error but the dcr is getting saved.
I have already created sym link by the name iw-home so all reference to iw-home are already working fine.
iw-home --> /usr/Interwoven/teamSite.
Also I analyzed that its not due to any form api but a generic error since I removed the form api call and any custom cgi callout from the dct but still getting the same pop-up error.

I even found that when I am getting similar error on "get latest" functionality also. On clicking a get latest where the staging has latest version into a workarea. I get a pop-up showing " An unexpected error occured: Failure in operation.

I suggest you go to the Support site and search the KB's for "Unknown Hopi error" - there are several articles there with, what appears to be, relevant information and it is possible that one of them will help you fix the problem (if so, please post information about which KB / what you did to resolve it)

Wouldn't you want /usr/iw-home/ --> /usr/Interwoven/TeamSite instead of iw-home/ --> /usr/Interwoven/TeamSite?

I checked at support site for hopi error but there is no such error related to "save" and delete functionality.

As seen in content_center .log, we are getting following 3 different error on 3 different functionity. seeems to be related to each other
1. On "save" dcr functionality

Did this issue ever get resolved? We're having the same exact problem with our Teamsite Migration from Teamsite 6.7.1 to Teamsite 7.3.0. Both saving a DCR and running "get latest" are generating hopi errors.

Autonomy recommeds to first move to TS 6.7.2 SP2 before upgrading to TS 7.2.1. I am not sure what anomalies it can create to the system but it is always better to go with the recommendation made by Autonomy.

Migrating to a new server with a fresh installation is generally fine (I've done this with 5.5.2 to 7.2.1) though you do need to look for, and handle, certain changes (e.g.: on Unix you have to chown the entire backing store to be owned by iwts) and you have to deal with changes in the customizations (e.g.: custom menu items defined in IWHOME/local/config/lib/content_center/customer_src/etc/conf/customer/ rather than in iw.cfg) but it should generally work.

It's usually best to actually perform an iwmigrate from a copy of the old store into the new store - to be able to take advantage of any improvements in the backing store itself. This can be a rather time-consuming process, but ultimately you're left with a clean backing store on your new system (hopefully the backing store on the old system was clean before you started)

The inability to save a DCR is almost always related, at least in part, to FormAPI code - but ultimately such things need to be debugged in-situ and may, at times, require the assistance of Support. With regard to the hopi errors, you should probably search the Support site KB articles - as issues with hopi errors have come up a number of times and I believe there are at least a couple of KB articles the discuss ways to fix it.
